J Smith-Cameron Life

J. Smith-Cameron (born September 7, 1957) is an American actress best known for her supporting roles as Janet Talbot on the television series Rectify and Gerri Kellman on Succession.

Early life and education

Jean Isabel Smith was born in Louisville, Kentucky, the granddaughter of architect Richard Sharp Smith and the niece of architect Richard Sharp Smith. She was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and she was raised there.

She attended Florida State University for a year and was enrolled in the School of Theatre, where she met film director Victor Nuez, who portrayed her as a lead in his film Gal Young 'Un (1979). She also completed acting at HB Studio in New York City.

When told by the Actors' Equity Association that a name, not a girl, could not have the same professional name, she began being recognized as "J. Smith" in college out of fear that her first name, Jeannie, was too girlish, and she added a family name, Cameron.

Personal life

Smith-Cameron is married to playwright, screenwriter, and film producer Kenneth Lonergan. They have one child, Nellie.

Succession sweeps the board at Emmys, whose fame has boosted careers and granted little-known actors their big break?

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 16, 2024
Succession swept the board at last night's Emmy Awards thanks to its Shakespearean storylines, captivating scripts, and a star-studded cast. At last night's Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, the hit HBO series, which came to an end last year, received six coveted awards, including Best Drama for the third year in a row. During its four-season run, viewers were on tenterhooks to see which of media mogul Logan Roy's four children would be selected to lead his company empire. Logan's son-in-law, Tom Wambsgan (played by Matthew Macfadyen), was appointed CEO in a shocking development after feuding siblings Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv ( Sarah Snook ), and Connor (Alan Ruck). Matthew Macfadyen and Saran Snook have also triumphed over their co-stars in real life, with the on-screen husband-and-wife winning 17 awards between them. Here's a look at some of the Succession cast's most recent triumph tales.
