Iwan Fals Career

Career

When he was 18, Iwan Fals, Toto Gunarto, Helmi, Bambang Bule, and Kakek Jagonk formed a faction called Amburadul. 'Perjalanan', a 1979 album that was not popular, was re-released with the tag '3 Bulan' (1980) in 1980. The group disbanded and no longer played a role in Iwan Fals' career.

After winning a comedy country singing competition, Iwan Fals appeared on several comedy albums early in his career. He performed of comedies and themes, and his first album was titled 'Canda Dalam Nada' (the A-side featured five songs by Iwan: Generasi Frustrasi, Dongeng Tidur, Imitasi, Kisah Sepeda Motorku). While the B-side featured songs by Tom Slepe and Pusaka Jaya), Kopral) and Joni Kesiangan. Dongeng Tiduru, Joni Kesiangan, and Kisah Sepeda Motorku were among the new songs to be released on the Iwan Fals mini-album Canda, as well as Generasi Frustrasi and Imitasi, which was also included in the 'Yang Muda Bercanda II' multiartist comedy collection.'

During this period, Iwan supported himself by busking.

Iwan Fals' debut in 1981 when he signed to Musica Studio to record his first solo album, Sarjana Muda. This collection features Iwan Fals' signature country music style, with the protest song "Guru Oemar Bakrie" that describes how a teacher is poorly paid but also responsible for training future well-paid and wealthy students. In Indonesia, 'Guru Oemar Bakrie' became well-known and popular, and it helped to establish Iwan's name. Several ballads are also on the album. It benefited from substantial investments by Musica Studio, which used top-quality musicians and producers for the album.

Opini, 1982, also on Musica Studio, solidified Iwan's fame as a protester but also as a balladeer. 'Galang Rambu Anarki', a newborn boy's first child's first child's first child's birth, married both the joyful event and the rising costs, but also focusing on the fact that if they could not afford to buy milk, they might be malnourished.'

Sumbang came out in 1983, but Barang Antik and Sugali were only released in 1984.

Iwan was arrested and jailed for two weeks after playing the songs 'Demokrasi Nasi' and Mbak Tini' in Pekanbaru, which never appeared on record. Mbak Tini, a streetside coffee store, married to 'Soeharyo' (Suharto), and the song was about a prostitute with a roadside coffee shop. On 1986's Ethiopia, the performances were retold on the song '14-4-84'.

Iwan Fals continued to release albums in the 1980s, but Swami, which released two albums Swami I and Swami II in 1989, and Swami II in 1991. Kantata Takwa, which featured many Swami workers, was a similar grouping. A Betawi rebana was a blend of Jimi Hendrix and Rick Wakeman, with Jimi Hendrix and Rick Wakeman blending to a Betawi rebana. Kantata Takwa's album was released in 1990, containing songs such as "Bento" and "Bongkar" ("Rip It Down"), two of many songs that they performed during a college performance.

Iwan had been producing about two new albums per year for fifteen years prior to the introduction of Orang Gila in 1994. Since 1994, he has drastically reduced his release schedule, with two singles in 1995 and another in 1996, and one in 1996, when Kantata Takwa's second and final album, Kantata Samsara, was released in 1998.

A number of Iwan Fals compilations were released in the 1990s and 2000s, including Best of the Best, Akustik (3 volumes), and Salam Reformation ("Greetings Reformation"), which sold more than 50,000 copies to make up for the lack of new content.

Iwan Fals' first solo album since 1994, Suara Hati, was released in 2002. In 2003, the album 'In Collaboration With' was released, a collection of performances with other Indonesian artists. Manusia Setengah Dewa, who died in 2004, was a solo artist.

In 2005, he released Iwan Fals in Love, essentially a collection of old Iwan Fals romantic recordings, but the main single, "Let Me Love You"), was replaced by five re-recordings of old songs. In 2006, two songs, in collaboration with Indra Lesmana, Haruskah Persi, and Selancar, were released as digital downloads.

Musica Studios introduced 50:50 on 2007. The album's themes were romance and social critique. The death of Munir is chronicled in one of the album's tracks, "Pulanglah" ("Go Home." Six singles were written by himself, and six singles were written by his coworkers. Untukmu Terkasih was released in 2009 as Untukmu Terkasih.

He released Keseimbangan in 2010 and later in 2011 he released "Tergila-gila," which featured four new songs.

He has a large fan club, OI (stylized as lowercase oi), and he said, "I am not [actually] Orang Indonesia," so many acquaintances (fans) whose faces I recognize, but [I] can't recall their names." He began calling his fans, who often came to his house to listen his free acoustic live performance with "Oi" which literally means "Hey." Thus, the supporters took OI as the name of the fan club and abbreviation of Orang Indonesia (Indonesian People) because the word must have a meaning. The idea of naming Orang Indonesia came from Iwan Fals' foundation, Yayasan Orang Indonesia (Indonesian People Foundation). OI is now led by his wife and running under PT's direction. Tiga Rambu (limited liability firm) is a limited liability firm.
