He may have been born in Czechoslovakia, but tennis legend Ivan Lendl has spent the better part of the last 40 years in Connecticut, where he has recently sold his 18,000-square-foot mansion for $12 million. The auction took place in Litchfield County last week, which is tucked into the country's 48th largest state's northeast corner, according to CTInsider.com. It was designed for him and his family in 1992 by architect Allan Greenberg, but Lendl was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, eight years ago, when he was still the best-ranked men's tennis player in the country. According to Zillow, the 10-bedroom, 15-bathroom home sits on 445.6 acres and has gradually decreased in value since 2021, when it was listed for $16.5 million. The property has a horse paddock, barn, a conjoined indoor/outdoor pool, sauna, gym, and, of course, a tennis court.

Andy Murray was promising to do it for everybody, he said. For himself, mainly of course, and for his mentor Ivan Lendl, to whom he came first after the traditional display of Centre Court mountaineering. It was also for the remainder of his support staff, his family, the entire country, and Dunblane in particular. For the love of God, he even said he was struggling to do it for those he knows in the media. It's no surprise that the 12-minute game that brought him his incredible journey to Wimbledon was to become one of the most thrilling passages of play in British history.
