Professional career

Laguna, nicknamed "El Tigre Colonense," was a WBC champion in 1965 and later recovered the belt in 1970, but he was barred from winning the WBC championship prior to losing the WBA Championship to Ken Buchanan.

In 1967, Laguna lost 15 round decisions in two other attempts to regain his lightweight title, against Carlos Ortiz, and in 1971 against Ken Buchanan. After the 1971 defeat to Buchanan, he resigned.

In 2001, Laguna was inducted into the International boxing hall of fame.

Ken Buchanan (pictured), the British boxing hero, died at the age of 77, a year after it was revealed that he was suffering from dementia and living in a care home. On Facebook, Ken Buchanan MBE Foundation said he died peacefully' in his sleep this morning. The paper said, "It's with great sadness that we have to inform you that Ken Buchanan died peacefully in his sleep this morning."
