Career

Galante was born in Riga to a musical family. In 1977, she joined the Latvian Academy of Music in Riga. She became a soloist of the Latvian National Opera while still a student at the Academy. Parallel to her role in Riga, she was involved in opera productions at other theatres, particularly in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where she had a fruitful relationship with conductor Valery Gergiev.

Galante appeared soloist at National Theatre Mannheim and Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf from 1991 to 1999. Since then, she has been traveling and performing all around the world. Galante's voice has been heard at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysés and the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier (France), at the St Denis Festival, the Newport Music Festival, and the Gibson Hall (USA), at the Royal Swedish Opera, the Wigmore Hall, and the Principia Hall (Moscow), as well as in the Kremlin and the Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow), where she made her debut as Adriana in Cilea Lecouvreur's at the voice at the d In 2001, Galante and José Carreras appeared in Rotterdam together.
