Adila Sedra (born 26 June 1984), best known by her stage name Indila, is a French singer and songwriter.

She worked with several musicians on vocals and songwriting before releasing her first single, Dernière danse ("Last Dance") in December 2013, which reached SNEP Top 2 in France.

In February 2014, she released her first album Mini World.

Early life

Adila Sedra was born in Paris on June 26th 1984. Her mother was a caregiver when her grandmother performed at weddings; she has two older sisters. Indila is a "child of the world" since she is of Indian, Algerian, Egyptian, and Cambodian descent. She served as a tour guide at the Marché international de Rungis before her singing career. She referred to her insatiable love for India as the reason for her stage name.

Indila has performed in English, including "Dreamin" with Youssoupha and "Bye Bye Sonyé" with DJ Abdel, and sung Hindi-language refrains in Criminel by Rohff, in addition to her native French.

Indila's first single, "Dernière danse" ("Last Dance"), debuted in November 2013, a hit, and the album Mini World's "Dernière trouce" ("Last Dance"), soon found fame. On January 4, 2014, it hit the top ten of the French charts and ranked number 2 on January 18, where it stayed through the week of 22 March. For a total of 77 weeks in the top 200, the band remained in the top 200 in France until April 2015. It was also a hit outside France; "Dernière danse" became the number one song on iTunes in Greece and Romania by the end of February 2014, and the number one song on iTunes in Turkey. On July 30, 2014, Dernière danse's music video, which was released on December 4, 2013, attracted 100 million YouTube views on the 30th of July 2014 and has over 800 million views as of October 2022.

Indila's first album, Mini World, was released in February 2014 by Skalp. Two other albums from the album, "Tourner dans le vide" ("Spinning in the Emptiness"), which reached number 13, and "S.O.S," which debuted at number 8, were among the top ten in the French charts: in addition to "Dernière danse" ("Spinning in the Emptiness"), which reached number 13 and "Spinning in the Emptiness"), which climbed to number eight. The album was France's best-selling album the week after its debut and remained in the top ten best-selling albums until the week of October. In November 2014, a limited-edition CD/DVD version of Mini World was released, as the album's acoustic version of "Tourner dans le vide" and "Love Story," an acoustic version of "S.O.S." and "Love Story." In February 2015, Mini World's second limited edition contained ten tracks from the original release, two new songs from the first limited edition, and another new tune. Mini World found success in France, where it was the country's best-seller and second-best-seller of 2014, where it was the best-seller of Poland and second-best-seller of 2014.

Indila received the MTV Europe Music Award for Best French Artist of 2014. At the 30th Victoires de la Musique in February 2015, she received the Best New Album of the Year (for Mini World). Indila was one of the ten artists selected for the European Border Breakers Award in 2015.

Indila's latest hit "Parle à ta tête" on August 23, 2019. The song's music video was released on November 14th.
