Some Democrats have broken rank with their colleagues and have begun calling for the resignations at Columbia University, furious at how anti-Israel protests have engulfed campus life for a third week. The ongoing ' Gaza Solidarity Encampment' has been ongoing for nearly two weeks and has led to the arrests of hundreds of protestors. The protestors have often vacillated between pro-Palestinian and pro-Gaza chants to anti-Zionist and anti-Israel messages laced with antisemitism. This upset a small number of Democrats who last week went as far as going to the university to call for it to protect and Jewish students and take action against the targeting and harassment of Jewish students. Now, some of those Democrats who visited the university are going further, writing to the trustees of Columbia University to request they 'act decisively, disband the encampment, and ensure the safety and security of all of its students.'

While visiting campuses last week to show solidarity with pro-Gaza student protesters after her daughter was arrested, Omar spoke out against bigotry against Jewish students in a seemingly tongue-in-cheek remark. 'I think it is really unfortunate that people don't care about the fact that all Jewish kids should be kept safe, and that we should not have to tolerate antisemitism or bigotry for all Jewish students, whether they're pro-genocide or anti-genocide,' she said. 'It is patently false and a blood libel to suggest that ANY Jewish students are 'pro-genocide,'' Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League.

As hundreds gathered at George Washington University to participate in anti-Israel protests Friday afternoon Jewish students there told DailyMail.com they have felt afraid, adding that the university is 'accommodating' the 'pro-Hamas' activists. But that time came and went and the tents and their occupants still stood in defiance of the university's demands. The encampment was still there Friday afternoon. 'To hear people calling for more violence makes me really afraid to come out of my house out of fear that someone's going to hurt me or do something to me,' Skyler Sieradzky, a Jewish GWU student, told DailyMail.com at Friday's protest.
