Club career

In January 2012, he joined Persepolis. He has been with the club for two and a half years as a cadet until the 2013–14 season. In the final match of 2011–12 Iran Pro League, he made his Persepolis debut against Foolad as a starter. In AFC Vision Asia U21 Tehran Premier League, he competed for Persepolis U21.

Kanaani joined Beira Mar on loan in August 2013. However, he returned to Iran without playing a single single match due to work permit difficulties.

In summer 2014, he joined Malavan on a two-year loan to cover his conscription period. In a 1–1 draw against Esteghlal, Kanaani scored his first goal for Malavan.

Kanaani was expected to return to his hometown club Persepolis in May 2016, after finishing his two-year conscription period at Malavan. Kanaani, on the other hand, turned to Persepolis' offer and joined their rivals Esteghlal. Kanaani sustained a season-ending injury after only playing two games before joining the club. He was released by Esteghlal at the end of the season after only playing two games for the club.

He was a member of Saipa FC from 2017-18.

He joined Machine Sazi in the 2018-19 season. At Machine Sazi F.C., he finished the 2018–19 Persian Gulf Pro League. With 27 appearances and one goal, it's been a success.

Kanaanizadegan signed a two-year deal with Persepolis, the Persian Gulf Pro League champions. In a 1–0 victory over Sanat Naft Abadan on September 16, 2019, Kanaanizadegan scored his first goal for Persepolis.

International career

He appeared in two Asian U16 Championships matches.

In all four games for the 2012 Asian U19 Championship Qualifiers, he played a single single minute, assisting the team in keeping a clean record in them. He started playing in Iran's first game during the Championships, assisting Team Meli in keeping a clean sheet and even reaching the bar from 30 meters out. He was a member of Iran U-20/20 in 2012 AFC U-19 Championship qualification, 2012 AFC U-19 Youth Championship, 2012 AFC U-19 Youth Championship, and the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship.

Nelo Vingada's invitation to Incheon 2014 and the 2016 AFC U-22 Championships were sent to Iran for his preparations for the Incheon 2014 and 2016 AFC U-22 Championships (Summer Olympic qualification). He was selected in the Iranian U23 final list for Incheon 2014.

In a friendly match against Uzbekistan on June 11, Kanaanizadegan made his debut against them on June 11. On June 16, 2015, he also played against Turkmenistan. With the 3rd goal in the 14-0 thrashing of Cambodia in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, he scored his first goal for the team. With a header against Syria on March 30, 2021, he scored his second goal for the team.
