The most surprising fashion flops, with a convicted domestic assaulter being the top winner, were the preachiest sycophant, In Memoriam's Most Honest 'In Memoriam' and the strangest fashion flops

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 16, 2024
KENNEDY: Halfway through the obligatory 'In Memoriam' at Monday night's Emmys , the question crept into my mind: How will Tinseltown acknowledge Perry's sudden death - and the ensuing allegations that he was a habitual woman beater? Not well, a Spoiler Alert. The troubled Friend was completely ignored at the Golden Globes last week. However, this 75th Emmys was all about nostalgia and marveling at the television magic of yesteryear. Chandler Bing couldn't be ignored. So as headshots of Norman Lear, Angela Lansbury, and Harry Belafonte faded in and out on a big screen, I knew what was going to happen. As the rain starts to pour, I'll be there for you,' Charlie Puth and his husband-and-wife team The War and Treaty said.' The Emmys were all in. Perry was the loudest applause of all - the last shreds of #MeToo swept under the carpet as a room full of faux-moralists lauded the dishonest.

What inspired Tom Jones' ballad Delilah?

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 2, 2023
The delilah's lyrics read: "At break of day when the guy fled away, I was waiting." I walked across the street to her house and opened the door. She was joking around here and merriment followed her. I felt the knife in my hand and said nothing more.' The piercing words, penned by late songwriter Barry Mason (inset with Tom Jones), have always prompted questions about what inspired them. Mason said he was inspired by US crooner Frankie Laine's (left) and his teenage ordeal with a woman named Delia he encountered on holiday told him she had a boyfriend, which made him'sick with envy.' Mason's initial intention, according to his wife Sylvan, was to make the film about Samson's Biblical tale, although he loses his ferocious hair after his lover cut off his majestic hair. However, she said that the plot rather than 'took off on its own,' implying that only one line from the song was missing like a slave that no man could free.' Rather, she said, 'it ended up being more of a Carmen Jones theme,' referring to the popular 1954 musical (right) that sees actor Harry Belafonte strangle his adulterous lover.

"Is That Black Enough For You?!? "For His Ode to Black Cinema, the producer of Tapping Movie Icons."

www.popsugar.co.uk, November 15, 2022
Contrary to popular belief, Black cinema was rich and plentiful before the burgeoning of blaxploitation films in the late 1970s and '70s. "Is That Black Enough For You?! "What" a recent Netflix documentary that premiered on September 11th, not only gives these films their flowers, but it also highlights the cultural revolution behind Black cinema, which has often gone unheard. "Is That Black Enough For You?" says archived footage and interviews with Black film legends such as Whoopi Goldberg, Laurence Fishburne, Samuel L. Jackson, and others. Elvis Mitchell, a filmmaker and historian, explores the splendor of Black creators in film, from the beginnings of the 1900s to the 1970s — from their roots in the early 1900s to the modern era of the '70s. Mitchell tells POPSUGAR that it took him nearly 23 years to bring his kaleidoscopic film to life. Alain Locke's lectures at Harvard University in 2002 sparked a lot of his research. Nearly two decades later, he worked with filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, David Fincher, and Netflix to inform a crucial part of Black cinematic history that he wasn't told.

Trudeau slammed as 'embarrassment' for singing Bohemian Rhapsody days before Queen's funeral

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 19, 2022
During the tone-deaf jollity, Prime Minister David Cameron belted out the song at an impromptu session in London's posh Corinthia Hotel, during the country's official period of remembrance. Trudeau, 50, was one of the hundreds of world leaders to speak with King Charles III and pay their respects to the Queen at the magnificent funeral this morning. Trudeau, wearing a casual maroon t-shirt, was seen standing over a piano during an ad lib singalong with other members of his formal Canadian delegation in the lobby of the central London hotel. Trudeau, the Liberal Prime Minister, mingled with the other opulent guests as he struck the infamous notes: 'Easy come, easy go.' 'The little is better than the little low.' Trudeau's haughty harmonizing with the pianist on Saturday went viral on the internet. This is just one of a litany of gaffs by the awakened world leader, who has admitted to dressing in blackface on several occasions and has found himself at the center of a string of ethical blunders. The unearthed video has sparked controversy around the world, with many slammed the premier for participating in the festivities just 48 hours before the Queen's funeral at Westminster Abbey, which he later attended (right). Her Majesty served as Canada's head of state for 70 years. On Thursday, the beloved monarch died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Trudeau described her hands as "one of my favorite people in the country" just six months after she was photographed clutching her hands at Windsor Castle during a heartfelt audience.
