On Friday, the House passed a stopgap funding bill to keep the government running until Dec. 16, avoiding a government shutdown ahead of the midnight deadline. On Thursday, the Senate passed the bill with a large bipartisan majority, and now the bill heads to President Biden's desk. The continuing resolution (CR) maintains the government at its current levels and initiates discussion on a longer-term bill that will make it a lot easier for lower-income families with heating bills.
