Glenn Lewis Life

Glenn Lewis, Jr. (born March 13, 1975), also known as Glenn Lewis, is a Canadian neo soul musician/songwriter.

Lewis received a Grammy Award nomination in 2004 and has also been nominated for a Juno Award with a total of six nominations.

Early life

Lewis was born in Kitchener, Ontario, and raised in Toronto by a Trinidadian mother and Jamaican father, Glennon "Glen" Ricketts Sr. Both of his parents were musicians; his father, who was the lead singer of Crack of Dawn in the 1970s, was a protégé of late Donny Hathaway's and appeared under the stage name "Glen Ricks." Lewis lived in Trinidad from the age of eight to fourteen before heading back to Toronto. Lewis, who had intended to work in animation as an adolescent, instead decided on music. He attended high school at Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute, where he won a talent competition by reporting Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called to Say I Love You." Lewis has cited Wonder as his greatest inspiration, and he's often compared to him due to their tones' similarity. Lewis began performing at nightclubs and becoming a well-known celebrity in the region after high school.
