Early life
Marn was born in Curepto, a Maule island, and school tutor Adriana Millie, who later moved with her family to Sarmiento and then Talagante. At the age of 11, she moved to Santiago, Chile.
Personal life and death
Marn married Jorge Muoz Poutays in 1963, with whom she had two children. Marn died of brain cancer after a long battle that included surgeries in Cuba and Sweden. Following her funeral, the government declared two days of national mourning. Her coffin was on display at the former National Congress in Santiago and was seen by thousands of mourners prior to its cremation. The PCCh and her family's arranged a march through Santiago's capital, with reports ranging from "tens of thousands of marchers" to "over 200,000" to "almost one million people" in the press. After her, an avenue leading to a working class neighborhood of Santiago was renamed.
