Gintaras Krapikas Life

Gintaras "Vytas" Krapikas (born in Kretinga, Lithuanian SSR, USSR) is a Lithuanian professional basketball coach and a former athlete.

He is currently the head coach for Nanjing Monkey King of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

He was a member of the Lithuanian national team that captured a bronze medal in Barcelona's 1992 Summer Olympics.

Playing career

When playing for algiris,' Krapikas' jersey number was 9 years old, and his position was small forward.

Coaching career

Krapikas took up a job as assistant basketball coach for algiris Kaunas' in 2000; together with head coach Antanas Sireika, he resigned from this position in 2006, when the coaching staff was re-organized. He served as an assistant coach for the Lithuanian national team from 2002 to 2005. He served as an assistant basketball coach for UNICS Kazan from 2006 to 2008.

He was the head coach of algiris Kaunas in 2008, but to no avail, and he resigned from the post as head coach of algiris Kaunas' on December 18, 2009. He also worked with Nevy for a short time in 2010-2011, and he served as the assistant and head coach for Azovmash in 2011-2012. In 2012, he returned to UNICS Kazan. He returned to ally Kaunas as an assistant coach before the 2013-2014 season. In April, he took over as head coach. This time, he was much more effective - under Krapikas, algiris played solid defense - and he had a good season in the Euroleague in 2014-2015, winning the Top16 competition. The LKF Cup was also won in 2015, as well as the 2014 and 2015 LKL titles. With BC Lietuvos rytas, the team dominated in matches. The magic had worn off by the 2015-2016 season, but the Euroleague's results were poor, especially in the Euroleague, and Krapikas resigned under intense pressure in January, 2016. Arnas Jasikevicius replaced him.
