Gheorghe Mureşan, a Romanian former professional basketball player, model, and author who is best known for his height, as a result of a pituitary gland disorder, and his basketball career with the Washington Wizards, New Jersey Nets, and Maryland Nighthawks, is a Romanian retired professional basketball player, actor, and author who is best known for his NBA career. He was drafted by the Washington Bullets in the 2nd round (30th overall) of the 1993 NBA draft (1993-1999) and spent in the NBA until 2000. Gheorghe Mureşan has also dabbled in acting and appeared in films such as My Giant and Adventures of Serial Buddies. In addition,, he has branched out as a writer and has co-authored books such as The Boy's Fitness Guide and The Girl's Fitness Guide.

Before Olivier Rioux plays a game for Florida men's basketball, his place in the Guinness World Record books got even stronger, extending his mark as the world's tallest teenager from 7-foot-7 two months ago to 7-FOOT-9 in present day. Rioux's height of three inches shy of eight feet tall will also make him arguably the tallest player to ever play Division-I basketball.  Last year, Ole Miss' Jamarion Sharp  and Missouri's Connor Vanover were the tallest players in Division I at 7-foot-5, four inches shorter than Rioux.
