Gary Mitchell Life

Gary Mitchell (born 3 May 1965) is a Northern Irish playwright.

Mitchell's first foray into writing came from a working-class, loyalist background.

Mitchell's first play was produced by Tinderbox, but the Peacock's production (by Connall Morrison) of In A Little World of Our Own, a riveting and unflinching portrayal of loyalist culture was his first major theatre success, but the Peacock production was a huge and unflinching representation of loyalist history.

In 1997, it received the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best New Play, and it later went to Belfast as part of an Abbey Theatre tour.

As the Beast Sleeps came to a conclusion the Peacock Theatre produced him the following year. In 1999, he was writer-in-residence at the Royal National Theatre in London. His performances at the Royal Court Theatre in London have also premiered.

The Evening Standard Charles Wintour Award (£30,000) for Most Promising Playwright was given to Force of Change. He received the prestigious Stewart Parker Award for Independent Voice; other awards include the George Devine Award. Since being attacked by loyalist paramilitaries, he was compelled out of his house in Rathcoole, Belfast.

Mitchell and his family had to live in hiding somewhere in Northern Ireland, causing Mitchell to suspend his studies for five years.

America's fastest-growing retirement hotspots - and none are in Florida

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 30, 2024
Retired Darius McLintock is clear why life is fantastic in Mesa: Crime is low, hospitals excellent, housing is cheap and it hardly ever rains. The city in Arizona last year was the top destination for seniors.  McLintock also pointed out the city's low unemployment rate, the varied natural beauty of the nearby mountains and desert as well as the lack of extreme weather events such as tornados.

More than 12,000 sign petition to kick out Alexee Trevizo from university after her bail was changed so she can go to classes despite being accused of murdering her newborn baby

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 28, 2023
More than 12,000 people have signed a petition urging New Mexico teenager Alexee Trevizo, who is accused of murdering her newborn child, from attending college. Trevizo, 19, (left in hospital, right, inset with her boyfriend), gave birth to her son in a bathroom at the Artesia General Hospital on January 27 before putting his body in a garbage can. The baby's 'wasn't crying' when she gave birth to him alone and was a newborn, according to the prosecutors, although she killed him by strangling him. Since a judge amended her bail terms so as to encourage her to attend her classes in person, more than 12,000 people have signed a petition to boot Treviso out of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. According to the petition, which was started by Evelyn Grasiano on Change.org, Treviso will continue to attend college despite being charged with a "heinous offence" on her record.
