And with 91 categories worth of accolades for music's best artists this year, the 2023 Grammys wasn't without a few hiccups this year, as well as other award categories. The expo was held live at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5th, 2019, the ceremony gave trophies to famous names like Beyoncé, Harry Styles, Adele, Lizzo, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar, as well as first-timers such as Viola Davis (now an EGOT winner), Kim Petras, and Samara Joy. However, there were some of the night's (not-shocking) snubs that did not make it to the table. Harry Styles' album of the year win over nominees like Beyoncé, Bad Bunny, and Lamar didn't go well with supporters who didn't agree he deserved the award. One user wrote, "You must be nuts trying to defend Harry styles over Beyoncé/Bad Bunny/Lizzo in this new state of music," while another tweeted, "Harry styles said, "this doesn't happen to people like me very often" and "I can't remember a person like me."

Sadly, the new year has also brought with it some tragic celebrity deaths. We've already lost three famous celebrities in the early days of 2023: Earth, Wind & Fire drummer Fred White, Gangsta Boo, and rally car driver Ken Block. They died right after 2022 began with just a few tragic celebrity deaths in its last days, including football legend Pelé, former Pope Benedict XVI, Pointer Sisters member Anita Pointer, and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. The world was rocked by several deaths in the last year, including Queen Elizabeth II's death in September; before her death, she was Britain's longest-reigning monarch. Olivia Newton-John, a leading actress on "Grease" and beloved comedian Leslie Jordan, have both died a little too soon. The death of Migos rapper Takeoff in the music world also stunned the industry.
