Football bosses have fought vehemently against the move, claiming that this exhausting extra step on players' journeys carries a threat of injury. The league's CEO Richard Masters has maintained that making sportspeople participate in such checks with everyone else will add to queues before and after internal flights, with the famous faces at risk of being approached by fans. But such arguments have fallen on deaf ears with the exemption, introduced last year, now set to be closed by the government.

Fast forward from their last May encounter - that saw Forest secure a win that eventually helped keep them in the division - and they arrived at home unbeaten, having claimed a historic victory at Anfield and a chance of sneaking into the top four.

AADAM PATEL AT THE EMIRATES: Ethan Nwaneri stole the show, but, from the other players involved, who impressed? And how did the five other teenagers - including a 16-year-old goalkeeper - get on? Elsewhere on the field, there was concern for one of the home side's summer signings who had a nervy first start for the club despite his team's comfortable win. Overall, however, it was a successful night for Arsenal, who will now prepare to host Leicester at the weekend before Champions League action once again next midweek.

The Gunners got their latest title charge off to a winning start on Saturday afternoon, beating Gary O'Neil's side 2-0 at the Emirates in what was a relatively comfortable victory. United lost their opening US pre-season tour game 2-1 after goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli despite Rasmus Hojlund opening the scoring in Los Angeles. But there was a silver lining of sorts for Erik ten Hag's side after they triumphed in the pre-arranged shootout following the final whistle, Jadon Sancho coolly stroking home the decisive spot-kick to seal a 4-3 victory at the SoFi Stadium. The Brazilian, who struck in the first half as Arsenal won 2-1 in the second friendly of their US tour, endured a torrid time with injury last season. A recurring knee problem plagued the striker and affected his playing time and fitness.

Things started off positively for Erik ten Hag when Rasmus Hojlund made the most of some poor defending to fire United in front at SoFi Stadium. But United's defensive frailties were exposed by the Gunners. Gabriel Jesus leveled things up just before the break and then Gabriel Martinelli grabbed the winner later on. Goals from the Brazilian duo of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli cancelled out Rasmus Hojlund's early opener - before he limped off injured. Despite the Gunners claiming the victory, there was a penalty shootout held after the match which United reigned supreme in, winning 4-3 over the North London side. It proved an important night for many of Arsenal's stars as they get the minutes in before their battle with Manchester City resumes when the Premier League season begins against Wolves on 17 August. Al-Ahli are reportedly monitoring both Richarlison (right) and Gabriel Jesus (left) ahead of a potential move this summer. The Jeddah-based club, who are one of four teams owned by the Saudi Arabian PIF, are hoping to strengthen ahead of the new campaign. IAN HERBERT: An atmospheric black and white clip of Arsenal's players, entitled 'Keep Believing', was broadcast by Arsenal as denouement day dawned and seemed to capture the sense that the team was destined to wait longer for their glorious technicolour moment. There was nothing monochrome and melancholic about the mood on the streets, though.  Only an air of celebration, as the Arsenal team bus was serenaded down Hornsey Road in the sunshine at ten to two and as the 'North London Forever' anthem was belted out before kick-off into a brilliant blue sky with an intensity which was remarkable, even by this season's standards.

Manchester United winger Antony was left baffled after he was told to play at left-back towards the end of the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal.  Erik ten Hag's men suffered their 14th loss of a dismal campaign to dent their hopes of qualifying for Europe next season.  Antony was left on the bench in favour of Amad Diallo, who impressed in his first Premier League start for the club. 

The midfielder (right) has endured a tough season with United in the Premier League, recently filling in at centre-back in an injury crisis that did little to help his chances of continuing with his national side. The 32-year-old was named his country's captain in March last year, and missed the last squad, which featured a friendly against England, through injury, though this time appears to have missed out through selection.
