Akindele Olufunke Akindele Akindele Ayotunde, also known as Funke Akindele, is a Nigerian actress and producer.

Funke appeared on the sitcom I Need to Know from 1998 to 2002, and in 2009 she received the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Funkee is the lead character in Jenifa's Diary, which was named Best Actress in a Comedy at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Early life and education

Akindele was born in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria, on August 24, 1977. She is the second of three children (two girls and one boy). Her mother is a physician, while her father is a retired school principal. Grace Children's School, Gbagada, Lagos State, was attended by the girl. She obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication from the former Ogun State Polytechnic, now known as Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. She received a law degree from the University of Lagos.

Personal life

Funke Akindele married Adeola Kehinde Oloyede on May 26, 2012. In July 2013, the couple divorced, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. In London in May 2016, Funke Akindele married Nigerian rapper JJC Skillz. In August 2017, her pregnancy rumors were among the top searched results on Google's search engine. Funke Akindele gave birth to twin boys in December 2018 and has several step-children.

Career

Akindele came to fame after appearing in the hit UN Population Fund (UNFPA)-sponsored sitcom I Need to Know, which aired from 1998 to 2002. Funke Akindele was a curious yet highly educated secondary school student. Funke Akindele's first break came in 2008, when she appeared in the film Jenifa.

When it was announced that Funke Akindele would make her Hollywood debut in Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War as a member of the cast on IMDb, it was a controversies. According to mainstream Nigerian news, Jenifa was due to appear in Infinity War as the guard Dora Milaje, quoting IMDb. Funke Akindele's upload seemed to have been a hacker a few weeks later, replacing her name with that of fellow Nigerian actress Genevieve Nnaji. In February 2018, it was announced that Senator Paul McCarthy, the National Assembly's chair, and Akindele had advised Marvel Studios to include Akindele in Infinity Wars.

In the forthcoming 2023 elections, Akindele was voted as the Lagos deputy governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria). Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, told her that she would value her candidacy in the 2023 general elections. On Tuesday, the actress confirmed that her deputy governorship candidacy was "necessarily postponed."
