In 1713, Henry Mill, an Englishman, was granted the first typewriter patent, but it does not appear that a working model was ever produced. Pellegrino Turri, an Italian, allegedly invented a machine in 1808 for his blind lover Countess Fantoni da Fivizzano in order to communicate in order for them to communicate. There are no drawings of this machine remaining. The first living extant typewriter was a machine invented by Danish pastor Rasmus Malling-Hansen, principal of the Royal Institute of the Deaf. This was the first commercially manufactured in 1865. It was a ball-shaped unit with alphabetical order. Due to his fading eyesight, German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche used one of these.
