Fiona Reid, CM (born 24 July 1951) is an English-born Canadian television, film, and stage actress.

She is best known for her appearances on the television series King of Kensington and Harriet Miller's My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Early life

Reid was born in Whitstable, Kent, England. Her father served as a doctor in the British Army. She lived in Germany, Africa, and the United States before settling in Canada with her family in 1964.

She studied acting at McGill University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972 and then at the Banff Centre for the Performing Arts.

Personal life

Reid met McCowan Thomas in 1977 and married him in a summer stock theatre. Alec and Julia are their two children.

Career

Fiona Reid is one of Canada's top stage actors, having appeared in theatres around the country, including five seasons with the Stratford Festival and twelve seasons at the Shaw Festival, as well as in major British and American theaters. Fiona was recognized by the Toronto Critics' Award in 2015 for her role of Sonia in Vanya, Sonia, Masha, and Spike (Mirvish Productions).

Rose in The Children, Amanda (The Glass Menagerie), Julie (A Streetcar Named Desire), Lady Bracknell (The Importance of Being Earnest), Martha (A Delicate Balance), and others. My Big Fat Greek Wedding, One Week, and The Time Traveler's Wife are among her film credits.

In 2016, Reid appeared in The Audience at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto as Queen Elizabeth II.

Fiona began her involvement in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway in 2019.
