David Canal (born July 27, 1960) is a Cuban professional wrestler best known for his ring name "The Cuban Assassin (El Sanguinario Cubano)" Fidel Sierra.
He is known for his service with the Puerto Rico-based World Wrestling Council as well as his participation in World Championship Wrestling and Pacific Northwest Wrestling in the 1980s and 1990s.
At the end of his career, he competed under the name The Cuban Assassin.
Early life
Sierra was born in Cuba but when he was a year old, he and his family immigrated to the United States. His mother was Cuban and his father was Spanish.

Sierra is married to Fantasy, his long-time boss. She is his fourth wife and the couple have been married for 19 years as of 2011. Sierra has two daughters and a son. Sierra and his wife own Crazy Dave's Sports Bar in Largo, Florida.
Professional wrestling career
Sierra was trained in Tampa, Florida, by Hiro Matsuda.
Sierra has been working with the World Wrestling Council (WWC) in Puerto Rico since 1985 as both a wrestler and a backstage worker. In Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling for the Crockett family (Jim Crockett, Sr. and Jim Crockett, Jr.), Florida and Georgia, and Oregon's Don Owen. He has also wrestled all over the country, including in Dallas, Texas for the Von Erich family (Jim Crockett, Jr.). Through his National Wrestling Alliance membership, he has competed in Stampede Wrestling in Canada, Dominican Republic, and Japan. He competed in Japan against Andre the Giant, Antonio Inoki, and Tatsumi Fujinami. He also competed under a mask in Mexico as The Boricua until he lost a Mask vs. Pierroth Jr.'s mask match.
Sierra faced Ric Flair in a match that ended in a 60-minute time limit draw while wrestling under the ring name 'Top Gun.'
Sierra also competed in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as 'Fidel Sierra', making appearances between 1989 and 2000. He is best known for a rivalry with Jim Duggan triggered by international tensions between the US and Cuba. Fidel Sierra has worked with Ricky Santana on WCW. The Cuban Connection was originally listed as The Cuban Connection in the mid-1990s, and the pair were renamed The Barrio Brothers (Ricky Barrio and Fidel Barrio) in an attempt to appear more up-to-date. As Los Especialista I and Especialista II, Sierra and Santana also appeared in WCW wearing masks and full body suits. Following a match, their identities were revealed on-air on the live Main Event pre-show of Clash of the Champions XXI.
Sierra also wrestled in numerous matches for the World Wrestling Federation in 1994 and 1995, in between his WCW appearances. He made his first appearance on WWF Superstars' February 5, 1994 episode, working with Barry Horowitz in a loss to The 1-2-3 Kid and Marty Jannetty. He then teamed up with Ricky Santana in two tryout matches at WWF TV tapings in June, but the pair was not signed. Sierra will make two more appearances on WWF television in 1995 as 'David Sierra,' after losing to Aldo Montoya on Monday Night Raw on Monday Night Raw and then working with Barry Horowitz to lose to Men on a Mission on February 9 of the WWF Wrestling Challenge. On WCW Saturday Night, As Fidel Sierra argued about (but never winning)the WCW TV title with Jim Duggan.
Sierra asked permission from the original Cuban Assassin, ngel Acevedo, to use the 'Cuban Assassin' name, but Acevedo denied on the condition that Sierra did not use the name or gimmick in Japan.
