Fernando Botero Life

Fernando Botero Angulo (born 19 April 1932) is a Colombian figurative painter and sculptor.

Born in Medelln, his signature style, also known as "Boterismo," depicts people and figures in a large, exaggerated volume, which can be depicting political analysis or amusement, depending on the subject.

Angulo, self-titled "the most Colombian of Colombian artists," came to national prominence in 1958, winning the first prize at the Salón de Artistes Colombianos.

Since moving to Paris in 1973, he began creating sculptures, earning international recognition with exhibitions around the world by the 1990s.

Many major international museums, corporations, and private collectors have acquired his works.

He received the Lifetime Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award at the International Sculpture Center in 2012.

Personal life

Botero married Gloria Zea, who later became the head of the Colombian Institute of Culture (Colcultura). Fernando, Lina, and Juan Carlos were three children together, and they had three children. In 1960, the Boteros divorced and both of them remarried. Botero lived in New York for 14 years before settling in Paris, but more recently. Lina lives outside of Colombia, and Juan Carlos moved to southern Florida in 2000.

Botero was born in 1964 and Cecilia Zano came to Cecilia Zamoro. They had a son, Pedro, who was killed in 1979 in a car crash in which Botero was also injured. In 1975, Botero and Zambrano were divorced.

Botero also married Greek artist Sophia Varia Varia. They live in Paris and have a house in Pietrasanta, Italy. Botero's 80th birthday was commemorated with an exhibition of his works in Pietrasanta.

Colombia's calling: beaches in the Caribbean and some of the world's most popular cities are expected to face those of the Caribbean and some of the world's most popular cities; no wonder this behemoth country is the world's newest South America hotspot

Colombia, which is almost five times larger than the United Kingdom, is sandwiched by both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. And seven years after the government and paramilitary forces signed a peace deal, and 20 years after the first military crackdown on drug cartels, there has never been a better time to visit, according to Kate Wickers.
