About
A Baltic German architect and art historian who was most prominent in the 1920s and well known for his small-scale dwellings. His work has often been seen as an example of the heimat style, art nouveau, and functionalism. With Robert Natus, he developed the general plans for garden cities Merivelle and N'mme.
Before Fame
He studied at Riga Technical University from 1902 to 1905, and at Techniche Hochschule Dresden from 1906 to 1908. He was employed by the private architecture bureau in Kiel from 1910 to 1912, then again from 1912 to 1914. He worked in Tallinn from 1918 to 1944.
Trivia
