Early life

Eric Lawrence Lively was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Blake Lively, half-sisters Lori and Robyn Lively, and half-brother Jason Lively, who appeared in National Lampoon's European Vacation, all have a brother. He is the son of actor Ernie Lively (né Ernest Wilson Brown Jr.) and talent manager Elaine Lively (née McAlpin). All of his four siblings have worked in the entertainment industry.

In the 1983 film Brainstorm, Lively's first film was as a baby. Lively migrated to New York City to study photography, his first passion after graduating from high school. Parsons The New School for Design in New York City trained photography. He was an Abercrombie and Fitch model at one time.

At age 13, he appeared in a Full House episode, where he played Stephanie Tanner's first boyfriend. He was involved in American Pie (1999). He continued his series So Weird, on which he appeared as Carey Bell from 2000 to 2001. On So Weird, he learned to play the guitar for his character. Lively then became a cast member of the short-lived 2003 Norm Macdonald film A Minute With Stan Hooper. He appeared in Speak with Kristen Stewart in 2004. Lively appeared on 24 and The L Word in 2005. Mark Wayland, a documentary filmmaker, appeared on The L Word. He preferred a recurring role on The L Word over a regular one on 24 because the subject matter was more significant. He appeared in the WB's Modern Men from March to May 2006. In 2006, he was the main protagonist of The Butterfly Effect 2's.

In 24: Redemption, a television film prequel to the seventh season of 24, lively starred Roger Taylor, the president's uncle.

In her music video "Please Don't Leave Me" in 2009, he appeared as Pink's on-screen boyfriend, with stuntman Justin Sundquist serving as his stunt double. He appeared in the Lifetime film The Client List in 2012. Lively performed in A Madea Christmas as Conner in 2013.
