Career

He began attending the Central Junior Television Workshop. In the British ITV comedy-drama The Grimleys, his first major role appeared at the age of 15. He has appeared in several British television shows, including Seriously Weird, Hardware, Donovan, Microsop, Look Around You, and All About Me.

Cartwright has played on television shows Bones as the laboratory intern Vincent Nigel-Murray until his death in the season 6 episode The Hole in the Heart. he also finished filming Dear Prudence with Jane Seymour, in which he used an American accent. On Season 3 of Mad Men, he appeared in a recurring role (as upper-class Briton John Hooker).

On the Syfy television series Alphas, Gary Bell, an autistic character, appeared (2011–2012). Cartwright met with autistic people, read blogs created by autistic people, and books by autistic authors, such as Temple Grandin and Daniel Tammet, to prepare for the position. The neurological science community has lauded Cartwright's portrayal of Bell, blaming his inability for removing stereotypes of autism previously seen in mass media.

Cartwright debuted on September 16, 2016 as Chale Witt, a CBS sitcom. After two seasons, the series was cancelled on May 12th.
