English Gardner Career

Career

She was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Voorhees Township, New Jersey, where she graduated from Eastern Regional High School as part of the class of 2010. While competing for the University of Oregon in 2011, she set what seemed to be the American junior record in the 100 meters at 11.03 (+0.6%) set while winning the Pac-10 Championships. Her mark is superior to that of Angela Williams' 1999, but that number has yet to be ratified. She was a five-time NCAA champion with the Oregon Ducks track and field team, winning two 100 m m titles, two 4400 m championships, and an indoor 60 m dash crown.

Gardner qualified for the 2013 World Championships in Athletics in Moscow after winning the 100 meters at the 2013 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Barbara Pierre's time of 10.85 was equal to her best time run in 2013 to that date, which she had to beat earlier this day in a semi-final. Gardner took third place in the 100 meters in Moscow with a time of 10.97. In the 4100-meter relay, she was a silver medalist for the United States.

After a runner up 100 meters at the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Beijing, Gardner qualified for the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing.

Gardner took the 100 meters at the 2016 United States Olympic Trials in a time of 10.74 (+1.0). The time also placed Merlene Ottey as the seventh fastest competitor in history in addition to qualifying her for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Gardner finished seventh in the 100 meters at the 2016 Summer Olympics, running 10.94, and took gold in the 4x 100 meters relay, a total of 41.01.

Tori Bowie (pictured), an Olympic athlete, had begged by a close friend to 'eat for two' before her death last month, when it was revealed that she weighed just 96 pounds despite being eight months pregnant. According to TMZ, Bowie, 32, was discovered dead in her Florida home on May 2 due to childbirth complications, but an autopsy revealed she was 'undergoing labour' when she died. Bowie last appeared on the international stage in 2019, at the Qatar World Championships, but he has spent the past four years in Florida, occasionally doing modeling for Valentino and ESPN. However, those that knew her have since discovered a pattern of unsettling behavior, with one neighbor telling DailyMail.com that her life was "erratic and unhealthy" in the years before she died.
