Parking FINES are given to nurses who work 13-hour hours at Essex Hospital

Emma Chapman, a 40-year-old senior sister, was issued two set penalty notices in a single week, totalling £80, as she returned home from grueling shifts at the Queen's Hospital in Romford. It comes as hospital employees are still paying £12.50 to park at the hospital, with Ms Chapman revealing that her colleagues often receive parking fines. The nurses are also fighting an uphill battle because their parking tickets last for a maximum of 12 hours, although their shifts are often longer than 13 hours. They are also unable to evacuate the hospital to move their vehicles in case of an emergency. Ms Chapman warns that many nurses are already struggling to pay the price of their parking tickets due to the cost of living, and that fines are exacerbating the situation.
