Everything That Happened in Season 1 of "House of the Dragon"

www.popsugar.co.uk, October 25, 2022
House Targaryen's titular house, House of Dragons, has a warning — "Fire and Blood" in the House of Lords — and the "Game of Thrones" drama lived up to those words. There were violent deaths and births, saddening tragedies, forensic backstabulations, steamy sex scenes, and swarms of dragons. The first season of The Dance of Dragons tells the story of the realm that the people will be divided and compelled to determine who their true king is: Queen Rhaenyra or Prince Aegon. So far, the show has mostly honed in on Rhaeny and her stepmother Alicent's transformation from childhood acquaintances to violent rivals, who have been torn apart by patriarchal forces. We've got you covered if you want a recap of everything that happened during the first ten episodes of the Westeros-set romance. Here's a recap of season one of "House of the Dragon."

Since the last episode, House of the Dragon has been a complete DECADE

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 26, 2022
The second half of HBO's House of the Dragon's first season features the largest time jump to date, with a full decade passing in Episode 6 since last week's Episode 5. Two new actresses portraying Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke, replacing Emily Carey) and Princess Rhaenyra appear in this episode, replacing Milly Alcock. After murdering his ex wife, Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) is now married to Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell), as shown by the trailer.

Fabien Frankel of the House of Commons was not keen for the Milly Alcock sex scene to be 'gratuitous.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 21, 2022
Fabien Frankel, the Dragon's house, has said he didn't want his sex scene with Milly Alcock to be 'gratuitous,' and that it took seven months to prepare. In the Game Of Thrones prequel, the actor, 28, portrays Ser Criston Cole, and his role evokes an intimate moment with Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, played by Milly, 22.

Alicent Nor Rhaenyra Is the Villain of "House of the Dragon" is not a story of the Dragon

www.popsugar.co.uk, September 21, 2022
I'm over heels over the first episode of "House of the Dragon" (Milly Alcock) and Alicent (Emily Carey). They were sweet, affectionate, and amusing. There was a little bit of competitive streak between them, and their closeness bordered on passion. In episode two, Alicent related her grief over her mother's death to Rhaenyra's more recent loss of her mother. However, the entire season has been an experiment in how things can fall apart, culminating in Alicent's grand entrance in a green dress at Rhaenyra's wedding reception, proudly revealing which party she supports. I gasped when Alicent called her "stepdaughter." All affection has been discarded, evidently for good. Fans are hurling a lot of blame in the aftermath of episode five. Anybody believes it's Alicent's fault. The queen seduced her. Rhaenyra may have understood her sympathy, or at least not been so harsh in her decision. However, neither Alicent nor Rhaenyra is the villain. They're two young girls in an impossible situation that was made worse by patriarchy. They're the only two women in the Red Keep for the vast majority of the time. They don't have no parents or mentors to talk to or confide in about their friendship, jealousy, or concerns. They're trying to thrive in a world in which they don't want them to thrive because they're women.

Viserys announces his plans to marry Rhaenyra (Milcock) to Laenor Velaryon (Theo Nate), the son of Corlys Verlaryon (Steve Toussaint) and Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best). The trailer showed some excitement and an all-out brawl at the wedding, but King Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) warns Queen Alicent (Emily Carey) that if Rhaenyra takes the Iron Throne, war will ensue.

The Dragon King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea is crowned by the Dragon himself

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 12, 2022
Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) crowned himself King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea after defeating The Crabfeeder himself and effectively refusing any assistance from King Viserys (Paddy Considine) in Sunday night's episode of House of the Dragon. Daemon and Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) wage war on the Crabfeeder without King Viserys' approval, but when he finally agreed to help, an outraged Daemon took the matter into his own hands and slayed the Crabfeeder himself. Daemon returns to King's Landing in Sunday night's new series entitled King of the Narrow Sea, alerting him that Corlys a.k.a. House of the Dragon: Rhaenrya defies her father King Viserys by refusing to marry

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 5, 2022
In the third episode of House of the Dragon, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) refuses to marry and defies her father King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine)... which includes another big time leap. Fans were surprised when the Game of Thrones prequel series, which was set 172 years before GoT's events, jumped six months from the series's premiere to last week's second episode. Viserys announced that he wanted to marry Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey), but the third episode of Viserys and Alicent is in time three years, with Viserys and Alicent arguing over Visery's first born son, Aegon Targaryen, the future heir to the Iron Throne.

Milly Alcock, the Dragon's House, claims she was refused entry to Emma D'Arcy's House of the Dragons

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 31, 2022
The spin-off/prequel House of the Dragon is already employing significant time jumps in the first two episodes, unlike its predecessor Game of Thrones. That news isn't surprising considering that there are characters such as Rhaenyra Targaryen portrayed by younger (Milly Alcock) and older (Emma D'Arcy) version, with Alicent Hightower playing younger and older characters, as well as Olivia Cooke older. Alcock, 22, plays Princess Rhaenrya at just 15 years old, but the actress admitted in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she was "discouraged" from seeing D'Arcy before shooting.

Here's how much time passed between the first two episodes of "House of the Dragon" on "House of the Dragon."

www.popsugar.co.uk, August 29, 2022
The first season of "House of the Dragon" will be spanning a long time, but we are not sure how many years it will cover. We do know that the actors playing Rhaeny and Alicent Hightower — Milly Alcock and Emily Carey — will be swapped out for younger actress Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke at certain points. We're not sure when the big jump will happen. In addition, each episode has a certain length to it. The first episode chronicles the events surrounding Aemma Targaryen's (Sian Brooke) death as she introduces a Targaryen heir who dies quickly. Viserys identifies Rhaenyra heir and shares the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy with her, excluding his brother Daemon (Matt Smith) from the line of succession. Episode two isn't expected to return the next day, and some very crucial time has passed.

In Episode 1, "House of the Dragon" Cast on Queer Tension Between Rhaenyra and Alicent

www.popsugar.co.uk, August 23, 2022
This "House of the Dragon" spinoff, starring Megyn and Lady Alicent Hightower, is all about Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) and Lady Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey). In the first episode of the series, the two characters discuss the relationship between the two characters. POPSUGAR has the full story. Any queer subtext between the two actors was obviously deliberate on the actors' part, according to Carey. "It's certainly something we should have known about," Carey says of Clare Kilner, one of the creators, and "something we should do with as the younger version of the characters." "It was something I was immediately aware of when I read the book, and I was like, hey, they're just a little bit in love."

Emily Carey, the British actor who plays Lady Alicent Hightower in the HBO series, says she was forced to temporarily delete Twitter after it became too "loud." Following a panel discussion at Comic-Con international in July, the 19-year-old actor caused a social media storm. They admitted that they created a backstory for their character in order to humanize her, but Carey's fans quickly accused them of not knowing their villainous role.

The "House of the Dragon" Cast on How Aemma's Pregnancy and Labour Define the Rest of the Series

www.popsugar.co.uk, August 22, 2022
Queen Aemma Targaryen (Sian Brooke) died during childbirth in this first episode of "House of the Dragon." The queen has been trying unsuccessfully for years to birth a son, and Princess Rhaenyra is the only surviving living child, according to Milly Alcock. This time, her husband, King Viserys (Paddy Considine), is secure in that she will bring a healthy baby boy to the line of succession, but Baelon, the boy's brother, dies shortly after his mother. To POPSUGAR, the cast and showrunners of "House of the Dragon" talked about filming the gruesome scene and the effects Aemma's death has on the rest of the series. Miguel Sapochnik, the showrunner, admits that the scene and how vividly they should depict Aemma's death was a "subject of a lot of controversy" and that they cut many different iterations. "It seemed crucial to highlight something that was not the most painful experience." . .. It's what separates the family apart."

CHRISTOPHER STEVENS reviews House Of The Dragon

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 19, 2022
This time, it's all about the dragons. Fantasy enthusiasts who adored Game Of Thrones have long believed that the mythical fire-breathing creatures were the true stars of the program. The nudity, the brothel scenes, the rapes, and woman violence were all a regrettable necessity placed by writer George R.R.'s sexual excesses. Martin's epic books. This was never a convincing defense. It's one thing to suspend your disbelief in witches and demons but another to accept that a generation of teenage boys fled through Queen Cersei's naked walk of shame in order to move to the next scene with dragons.
