The Manhattan DA files a lawsuit against the Art Institute in Chicago, who was'stolen' by the Nazis in 1940s

The Art Institute of Chicago is being accused of "willful blindness" regarding the work that was previously deemed "looted" by Nazis during the Holocaust. 'Russian War Prisoner' by Schiele belonged to the popular cabaret singer Fritz Grunbaum, who was killed in the Buchenwald concentration camp in 1941.' The work was then laundered by art dealers and moved to New York, according to the DA. Grunbaum's descendants, as well as the remainder of his art collection that was unavailable during World War II, have long longed for the drawing's return.
