David Breashears, a well-known mountaineer, author, and film director who was responsible for a 1998 IMAX documentary about Everest, has died at the age of 68. To address climate change's effects on Himalayan glaciers, Breashears summited Everest five times and created GlacierWorks. His pioneering efforts included the broadcasting of live television images from Everest's summit in 1983.
