Southeastern is accused of wasting cash on 'ridiculous vanity projects' after hiring celebrities like Gregg Wallace and Mary Beard to host a 'Hop on Board' podcast series while rail service is plagued by delays and overcrowding

Southeastern has been accused of wasting cash on hiring celebrities such as Gregg Wallace and Mary Beard to record podcasts while its rail service remains blighted. Infuriated passengers said they found it ironic that the rail operator was advertising the podcasts from stars promoting train journeys to Kent and East Sussex while standing on packed and delayed services that continue to be impacted by strikes. One said Southeastern was 'blowing money on ridiculous vanity projects and lining the pockets of rich celebrities instead of helping commuters', with another urged bosses to 'focus on running a decent service and spending their money wisely'. And a podcast expert told MailOnline that the series - known as a 'branded podcast' - would have 'cost an absolute fortune'. He estimated it would be about £10,000 to £15,000 per episode - giving a total of between £50,000 and £75,000 for all six. The rail operator, which is effectively nationalised, released three episodes with Wallace, Beard and Ed Byrne in January last year. A further trio then followed in April and May last year featuring Miranda Sawyer, Rav Wilding and Ben Bailey Smith.

When I was a child, Quosh was my go-to-goal drink. It was similar to squash but it was also cheaper, if you can imagine it. It was some sort of orange and lemon concoction, and it's all I would drink at home from about six o'clock onwards.
