Edward John Boon (born February 22, 1964) is an American video game programmer, philanthropist, voice actor, and producer who was employed for over 15 years at Midway Games and has since 2011 worked for Warner Bros.

Life and career
Boon was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, on February 22, 1964, and graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois. At University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and computer science.
He spent two years with Williams Entertainment in their pinball division, covering approximately 20 pinball games over the next two years. He was dubbed the Mortal Master at this time, indicating a future creation.
He co-created the Mortal Kombat fighting game series with John Tobias and served as the series' lead programmer before Tobias' departure from Midway in 2000. After Boon and Tobias' reversed surnames, Boon named Sonya and Tanya after his sisters Sonia and Tania, while Noob Saibot was named after Boon and Tobias' reversed surnames. The hashtags were also elaborated in their Twitter handles, @noobde and @therealsaibot. Mike Boon, Ed's younger brother, has been with his team since Mortal Kombat 4. According to ethnicity, the Boons are Hispanic and Dominican.
In 2009, Boon was ranked #100 on IGN's list of "Top 100 Game Creators" for his work in the Mortal Kombat series. He continues to be closely associated with the MK franchise and its multimedia side projects, as well as providing voice acting and motion capture for the games, most notably providing the voice for the "Come here!"and "Get over here!"
In every iteration of the series, as well as all feature films, catchphrases were uttered by Scorpions.
