Ducky Holmes Life

James William "Ducky" Holmes (January 28, 1869 – August 6, 1932) was an outfielder in Major League Baseball.

He spent ten seasons with the Baltimore Browns (1897–99), Baltimore Orioles (1898), and Chicago White Sox (1903–05).

Beatrice (1922), Fort Smith (1922), and Lincoln (191922) in his minor league career, including stops in Lincoln (1908-07) as player boss, Sioux City as boss (1908-1910), and Toledo (1912-13), Butte (1911).

He was the player manager of the Western League Sioux City Packers, working with White Sox teammate Danny Green for a time.

He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and threw right-handed. Holmes spent his first two seasons with the Colonels and spent the next two seasons with four different clubs.

After a season's absence, he returned to play in the American League's inaugural season in 1901.

Holmes batted.282 with 236 stolen bases and 1,014 hits in 932 games over his career.
