Matrix 5 is officially under development with original director Lana Wachowski on board to executive produce, but there is no word yet on whether Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as Neo. Drew Goddard, who wrote the screenplay for The Martian, has been recruited by Warner Bros. It will be the first installment in the Matrix universe without Lana or Lilly Wachowski as directors. Goddard is also expected to write the script and produce the film with his partner Sarah Esberg.

According to Steven S. DeKnight, fans of Netflix's Daredevil: Born Again was reveled back in May 2022, when it was revealed that a soft reboot named Daredevil: Born Again was coming to the Disney Plus streaming service, but some believe the reboot and others like it remain a big issue in the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. DeKnight, 59, was the showrunner for Netflix's first season, which spanned 39 episodes. On social media, the writer-producer, who also created the Starz franchise Spartacus and Netflix's Jupiter's Legacy, answered a fan who questioned him about the reboot.
