Mary Louise Comingore (August 24, 1913 – December 30, 1971), also known as Dorothy Comingore, was an American film actress.

Susan Alexander Kane (1941), Orson Welles' critically acclaimed debut film, is her best known for her role.

Linda Winters appeared in earlier films as Linda Winters, although she had appeared on the stage as Kay Winters.

When she was ensnared in Hollywood's blacklist, her career came to an end.

When she was first called before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1952, she refused to answer questions.

Early years

Margaret Louise Comingore was born in Los Angeles, California, and was described as "a one-time Oakland school girl." She studied at the University of California, Berkeley. Her father was an electrotyper, and her sister Lucille ran a nightclub in San Francisco.

Comingore was billed in her stage appearances as Kay Winters and then Linda Winters as a film actress from 1934 to 1940.

Personal life

Richard Meltzer, a screenwriter, was married to comingore. She also married screenwriter Richard J. Collins, with whom she had a daughter, Judith, and Michael. They were divorced in 1946. Theodore Strauss and John W. Crowe, a post office employee, were among her other husbands from 1962 to 1971.

During her later life, the comer endured with alcoholism to the point that she lost custody of her two children with Richard J. Collins.
