QUENTIN LETTS: The new SNP leader John Swinney is like a Bond villain, but there are flashes of humour

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 2, 2024
QUNTIN LETTS: Good heavens, have the Scots Nats just landed Donald Pleasence's Blofeld as their next leader? Actually it was John Swinney, a long-surviving member of the SNP mafia who already had one bash at leading the party 20 years ago and has decided it is time for take two. With hairy Humza Yousaf, 39, having self-imploded as Scotland's First Minister, up popped bald-as-a-monkey-nut Mr Swinney, 60, as the new thruster. They've gone from Hagrid to William Hague. Hair-wise, it's all or nothing with the Nats. Mr Swinney announced his leadership push at a community centre in Edinburgh shortly before elevenses. Three hours later his most likely challenger Kate Forbes published a statement saying she would not be entering the fray. Ms Forbes is the Wee Free churchgoer who, to much neck-clutching from illiberal liberals, declined to support gay marriage and identity politics. Aged 34, she may be biding her time. Who could blame her? Scots Nationalism, as evinced in the Salmond/Sturgeon era, is a den of distempered lions (Book of Daniel, Chapter VI).

Here is a list of the Top 20 movies you should have included in my Top 100 list, as well as your reasons for... The Great Betrayal came after the Great Escape. On March 25, 1944, German guards at the Stalag Luft III prisoner-of-war camp made the most audacious escape from the war at 5 a.m. 76 RAF officers were able to flee along a tunnel more than 100 yards long after almost a year of digging with makeshift equipment, avoiding detection by microphones around the perimeter fence, as well as the 'ferts' or Nazi military intelligence in the camp.

Where is the cast of Halloween now? From Kyle Richards' transformation from child actress to reality star to Jamie Lee Curtis' battle with opioid addiction, FEMAIL reveals what became of the movie's stars, 45 years after its premiere

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 25, 2023
When Halloween first appeared in theaters in 1978, horror fans met Michael Myers 45 years ago. The film was so influential that it launched its cast members' careers, and for some, it remains their finest work to this day. Michael Myers (Nick Castle) celebrates Halloween after being released from prison for murdering his sister when he was six years old. After returning to the town where the horrific murder took place, psychotherapist Dr. Samuel Loomis (Donald Pleasence) is on his way to arrest Michael, whom he describes as 'completely wrong.' The cast of the original film has had their own memorable careers and personal life updates as more Halloween films have come out over the years.
