From the outbreak of World War One to the death of Lenin and the D Day landings: How 2024 will mark some of the most significant historical anniversaries

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 1, 2024
On the 100th anniversary of the Great War's outbreak in 1914, the most significant commemoration from a British perspective would be the 100th anniversary of the Great War's outbreak. It will continue to claim the lives of 20 million people and have earth shattering geopolitical implications that remain with us to this day. It's been 80 years since the D-Day landings, which saw the world's biggest invasion fleet land on the beaches of northern France. Other anniversaries include 50 years since ABBA won Eurovision, 20 years since the launch of Facebook, and 75 years since NATO's establishment.
