Career
Khatib has been dubbed one of the most influential Arabs on Social Media by the Arabs. During Arab revolutions, she earned a lot of praise for posting regular updates and commentary on recent events on Twitter. On her social media pages today, she addresses all sorts of topics, including social media, media, motherhood, poetry, Palestine, and others.
She began receiving acclaim during the Iraq war while working as a live news producer for Al Jazeera Arabic Channel in Doha. She spoke with CNN's Larry King and Wolf Blitzer, and was featured in Control Room, a 2004 documentary film about Al Jazeera and its coverage of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
During her time in Latin America, she had unparalleled and close access to late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, interviewed many experts, including Bolivia's Evo Morales and Brazil's Lula da Silva. She gave the Arab World a rare glance into a far-away continent, reporting from all over South and Central America. Chávez will be cited as the source of breaking news such as Chávez's being the first head of state to vigorously condemn Israel over the Israeli-Lebanon conflict and breaking relations with Israel years later. Gaddafi's alleged escape to Venezuela had also been denied by the woman.
She specialised in journalism at the American University in Dubai (AUD) from 2013 to 2015 and gives talks around the world. She produces regular poetry recitals in cities around the Persian Gulf region, Europe, and Latin America.
Khatib has worked with Swiss Radio International in Bern and World Health Organisation in Geneva, as well as Al-Raya Newspaper and Qatar Radio in Doha, prior to her work with Al Jazeera.
