Dan Harris Career

Career

Harris began his career as an anchor for WLBZ in Bangor, Maine. He spent two years at WCSH in Portland, Maine, as an anchor and political reporter. He was an anchor at New England Cable News from 1997 to 2000.

In 2000, he began working at ABC News. From 2006 to 2011, he anchored World News, ABC World News Tonight weekend editions, and Nightline. He is also a regular contributor to World News. In September 2005, he also anchored ABC's coverage of Hurricane Katrina. He was named as the new co-anchor for Good Morning America's weekend edition in October 2010. He was named a co-anchor for Nightline in October 2013, succeeding Bill Weir. Harris revealed in August 2021 that he would not leave ABC News to concentrate on his meditation company. On September 26, 2021, he resigned from ABC News.

Harris has been leading the network's reporting on religion, especially evangelicalism, and has spent 48 hours in solitary confinement for a story on criminal justice, in addition to reporting on a number of natural disasters and several mass shootings, as well as many combat zones.

Harris will be the host of the game show 500 Questions on March 1, 2016, replacing Richard Quest.

Harris advocates for meditation, and he himself uses a technique called "breathing." Other meditators are interviewed in his "10% Happier" podcasts. Harris' book, 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Really Works was published in March 2014. Harris said an on-air panic attack in 2004 provoked his self-examination, heroin withdrawal, and the adoption of meditation. Harris chronicles how he tackled the apparent contradiction between meditation-initiated equanimity and the ferocious rivalry that is required for success as a TV-news journalist in the book.

Based on Harris' book, a meditation smartphone application was launched in 2015 and rebranded as 10% Happier.

Easter UK weather forecast: Spring sunshine returns in time for bank holiday (but don't forget a rain coat)! As the turbulent spell persists, Britain is expected to receive 16C highs and showers over the four-day weekend

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 29, 2024
The weekend is forecast to be much more stable after a string of rainy and windy weather all around the country. Temperatures in some regions hit 13 degrees on Good Friday, and many people took advantage of the warmer weather by taking a dip in the sea. Low pressure that caused the recent rain and wind storms will clear away tonight, but it is expected to return following the Bank Holiday. The Met Office predicts that showers in certain areas of the UK today would persist overnight, particularly in the west and south coasts.

Easter no getaway!Drivers are stuck in 'horrendous' 20-mile long queues on Britain's motorways in Easter Friday 'carmageddon' with staycationers clogging up routes to Devon and Cornwall and long delays hitting the Port of Dover

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 29, 2024
The majority of the Easter weekend are stuck in 'horrendous' 20-mile long lines on main highways, as staycationers clog up routes to Devon and Cornwall, and holidayers are met with long delays at the Port of Dover. Around 2.6 million vehicles are expected on Good Friday, with many commuters today going to the Channel as there is already "near" congestion along the M25 and South East. This comes amid warnings of 'carmageddon' and ferry company DFDS' cancellation on Thursday, which is coupled with heavy winds,' while rail passengers brace for the consequences of Storm Nelson.

As rail lines near, millions of people are expected to miss thousands of holidays this weekend, millions of tourists are expected to have a tailback Good Friday tailbacks

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 29, 2024
Around 2.6 million car journeys are forecast to start on Friday, with many motorists heading for the Channel, despite warnings of 'carmageddon' and ferry company DFDS' forecasting disruption "due to high winds" on Thursday. Two million Brits are set to fly to the United Kingdom for the long weekend, with long lines forming at some of the country's largest airports first thing in the morning. However, some rail services aren't going forward due to pre-planned engineering work on the southern end of the West Coast Mainline, turning the normally frantic London Euston train station into a ghost town.
