Deedee Lynn Magno Hall (born April 2, 1975) is a Filipino actress and singer best known for her appearances in The Party and as the voice of Pearl and other characters in Steven Universe's animated film.
Early life
Magno Hall, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia, is the son of a United States Navy sailor and a nurse, both Filipino-American immigrants. Her father is from Baguio, and her mother was born in Manila. Magno Hall grew up in San Diego, California, and Orlando, Florida.
Personal life
Magno Hall is married to Cliffton Hall, who has appeared opposite her on both Miss Saigon and Wicked national tours as well as in the San Francisco production of Wicked. In the production of Next to Normal by East West Player, he appeared as Dan Goodman alongside her. In a Guam production of "Mamma Mia!" they played opposite Donna Sheridan and Sam Carmichael. They have two sons, Kaeden and Brycen.
Career
Magno Hall began acting at a young age, lending her voice to the Disney show The All New Mickey Mouse Club (first recorded in 1988) from 1988-1991 and 1992, as well as occasionally in 1992. On the Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular soundtrack, she appears as Jasmine. She is listed as one of the participants in Sister Act 2 in 1993.
Magno continued to perform in musical theatre after The Party, but most notable was her role as Kim in Miss Saigon's Broadway production, which she later reprised on the national tour. Nessarose appeared on Wicked's first national tour from December 12, 2006 to November 16, 2008. She reprised her role in the Orpheum Theatre's San Francisco sit-down performance. With an opening night of February 6, 2009, performances began on January 27, 2009. She appeared in her final performance on September 5, 2010, the last show before the production was closed. She joined the ensemble for If/Then in October 2015, listed as "Cathy and others" and Elizabeth and Kate's understudy. Hall appeared in the East West Players' production Next to Normal as Diana Goodman from May 12 to June 18, 2017.
Magno Hall brought the character of Pearl on the Cartoon Network show Steven Universe in 2013 and the sequel to Steven Universe Future in 2019. Magno Hall provided both the spoken and singing voices for the character.
