Stephenson, a 14-year-old girl, appeared on BBC TV's Chance Knocks, winning her way into the All-Winners' Final, which was broadcast live from the London Palladium. She appeared on Blue Peter doing impressions at the same time.

She would appear on several CBBC shows later this year, including The Friday Zone (in which she was a regular presenter) and she was a backing singer on Chris Jarvis' 1997 charity single "Glasses."
