David J. Zuckerman (born August 28, 1962) is an American writer and producer who is best known as the original showrunner and executive producer of the animated comedy series Family Guy, as well as the producer of the Australian television series of the same name Wilfred. Zuckerman, a native of Danville, California, is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles.
Zuckerman wrote for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and then went on to write and produce episodes for Fox's animated series King of the Hill.
He and writer and producer Seth MacFarlane created Family Guy, another Fox animated film in 1999.
He later appeared on MacFarlane's second series, American Dad!, before reimagining Wilfred's Australian live action film and releasing it under the same name for FX.

Zuckerman was born and raised in Danville, California, and a graduate of Monte Vista High School. He earned a degree from University of California, Los Angeles. He has a German-Jewish lineage.

Career
Zuckerman began his career as a creative executive for Lorimar-Telepictures and NBC. When he was hired for a staff position on 1990 NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, he began writing full-time. He assisted in the inception of the Fox animated series King of the Hill, which he wrote for from 1997 to 1999 before returning to create the series Family Guy. Zuckerman was partnered with Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, and served as the series's original showrunner, but has no writing credit.
Zuckerman was hired to produce the Fox animated series American Dad!, which was also created by MacFarlane. He'll also develop two short-lived network series and an internet show. For the cable television network FX, Zuckerman produced the American version of the Australian television series named Wilfred starring Elijah Wood and Jason Gann.
