David Yarrow (born 8 February 1966) is a British fine-art photographer, conservator, and author.

He has flown to remote locations to photograph wildlife, indigenous people, and landscapes.

He now lives in London. Eric Yarrow, the son of the Yarrow shipbuilding family, was a prominent participant of the Yarrow shipbuilding period before serving as the chairman of Clydesdale Bank from 1985 to 1991.

Early life

Eric Yarrow, who was a pioneer of the Yarrow shipbuilding dynasty before serving as the chairman of Clydesdale Bank from 1985 to 1991, was the uncle of Clydesdale Bank.

He began shooting at Edinburgh University and was named Young Scottish Photographer of the Year at the age of 20. He covered the World Cup in Mexico for The Times in the same year (1986). Diego Maradona's photograph of him holding the trophy aloft was widely distributed in the media.

Personal life

In 2000, Yarrow married Jane Martin, a public relations manager. The couple are now divorced. They have two children.

Career

Yarrow opted for a career in finance after graduating from Edinburgh University. He spent 8 years as an institutional stockbroker in UK equities, both in London and New York City. Yarrow was named Director of Equities at Natwest Securities in 1993, where he spent his time as a Director of Equities before he left to found Clareville Capital, a London-based hedge fund.

Yarrow's passion and obsession with photography remained constant throughout the years, leading Spear's magazine to liken him to James Boswell in an article that delved into the Yarrow's "double-life" as fund manager and artist. In 2021, Yarrow has been focusing on his staged narrative shoots such as his Wild West series.
