Car makers will miss Government target for electric vehicle sales this year, MPs told

The share of the new car market held by EVs is predicted to be just 19.8% in 2024, which is below the Zero Emission Vehicle mandate requirement introduced to law in January. While the Government has threatened manufacturers with fines of £15,000 per car below the mandated binding requirement, minsters say they do not expect any businesses to face levies this year.
