Luis Balcazar Soto, 24, was driving up to 56 mph in a 30mph zone when he collided with Sophie Strickland's pedicab in a bus lane in New Kent Road, Southwark, on July 10 this year. Ms Strickland, 31, of Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, was declared dead at 4.30 a.m. after suffering serious head and neck injury. Soto, a resident of Southwark, was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison for causing death by unsafe driving and serious accidents by distracted driving. At the time, he was also in breach of his previous suspended sentence and a restraining order. Tanzir Ahmed, the rickshaw driver, was admitted to King's College Hospital with fractured skull, right arm, and leg. He has since developed a blood clot in his lung. Soto ran away after the shooting and was followed and arrested by witnesses.
