Julen Lopetgui is in advanced talks over replacing David Moyes at West Ham ahead of next season. The former Wolves head coach is emerging as the front runner to replace Moyes should, as is expected, the Scot leave the London Stadium in the coming weeks. Ruben Amorim is the alternative name on a two-man shortlist - but his £12.8million release clause is currently a significant obstacle.

David Moyes insisted he 'absolutely' has the desire to stay at West Ham and dismissed questions over whether he has the hunger to remain in the game as 'embarrassing'. Moyes is out of contract at the end of the season but has maintained that he will not make a decision on his future until the campaign is over. West Ham have been actively seeking possible replacements for Moyes, with former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui the frontrunner alongside a number of other candidates. But despite the uncertainty, the Scot was adamant he still has the ambition to remain in football and at West Ham. 'Absolutely. Football hunger? I'm a bit embarrassed you've asked me that question, for you,' Moyes said.

Mail Sport has learned that following internal talks it has been decided that Steidten will not enter the senior dressing room at the London Stadium or the club's Rush Green training ground. While Moyes' future is under so much uncertainty, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season, and as Steidten actively seeks replacements for the Scot, it has been deemed inappropriate for the German administrator to be in and around the players and staff.

English football is in uproar after the FA and Premier League struck a deal to scrap FA Cup replays due to the expansion of the European competitions from next season. The FA did not discuss the controversial move with the FA Cup's Committee and lower-league clubs are aghast as replays are a huge financial aid.

Xabi Alonso hinted the bust-up between his Bayer Leverkusen coaching team and West Ham's dug-out stemmed from David Moyes calling his bench a 'disgrace' after the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final. The Hammers were knocked out after Leverkusen came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium, with their 2-0 victory at the BayArena giving them a 3-1 win on aggregate. Tensions flared in the first leg and spilled over into Thursday night's game, with West Ham's assistant coach Billy McKinlay and Leverkusen's Sebastian Parrilla sent off just before half-time.
