News about David Cassidy

LIZ JONES: We were inseparable until she stole the boy I fancied, but when I tracked down my friend Karen 33 years later here's why it made me question my whole life...

As they say, it was love at first sight. Dark hair, huge brown eyes, long legs, tall, flat-chested and super, super bright. On my first day at Brentwood County High School, September 1970, in Form 3B, Karen was the girl I aspired to be. She was confident where I was painfully shy, with acne and braces on my snaggly teeth. Indeed, at the age of 11, I was already suffering from anorexia and hated my body. She was a great athlete and swimmer, while I always feigned a virulent verruca to avoid the changing rooms. Against all odds, we soon became inseparable: united by our love of horses and David Cassidy.

We all loved Jackie's sincere innocence: Slimming tips. How to Kiss. And yes, your bum does look big in this! JAN MOIR celebrates the triumphantly new magazine for teenage girls, six years after its debut

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 14, 2024
JAN MOIR: Jackie magazine burst on the scene 60 years ago this month, soaring into the rest of the world on a slick of strawberry lip gloss and a pop music fan. The latter were typically supplied by hunks named David, including Mr Cassidy, Mr Essex, and Mr Bowie, although the lippy came as a free gift stuck to the front of the mag. It was a sensation from the very first issue. In 1964, there were no magazines geared specifically to teenage girls's needs, which was a new phenomenon in itself.

MARK PALMER: At London's first skyscraper hotel, I posed as David Cassidy to fool the doorman and enjoyed vintage champagne on the patio!

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 12, 2023
Mark Palmer: When I learned that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, I was transported back 50 years to the time when one of my most mischievous youthful indiscretions occurred. Chris, a school friend who lived in a mews in West London, was keen to ring in his 18th birthday in style with a group of his classmates, but none of us had the resources to pay for such a celebration. That was when he persuaded a car dealer in the mews to let us borrow a Rolls-Royce. I was often mistaken for David Cassidy, whose pop star fame was then at an all-time high, and so we came up with the expectation that Chris would drive the car wearing a chauffeur's hat and I would sit in the back pretending to be Cassidy, assorted fake bodyguards and minders. Outside the Hilton, we screeched to a halt. (wearing a uniform created by Sir Hardy Amies): 'It's Mr Cassidy' I rushed to let me out and yelled to the doorman): 'It's Mr Cassidy' I think it's Mr Cassidy' . . 'Please let him in and look after the car.' In the meantime, my'minders' took pictures and generally created a ruckus. Left and right, Mark Palmer, left, and David Cassidy, right. MARK MASON has a literary stocking filler for everyone

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 22, 2022
The book's design is unsettling enough to begin with: three moggies owned by the Japanese Instagram stars model various types of headgear: graduation cap, witch's hat, deerstalker, flying cap with goggles, and so on. The pair sound just as - how can we put this - 'hopelessly devoted' as many pet owners: 'At our house, before we brush our cats we ask them, 'Is it all right if we brush you? '

In 2022, the celebrity memoirs were published

ROGER LEWIS: A large portion of Perry's life has been spent in clinics and rehabilitation centers. "I've spent over $7 million trying to get sober," he says, much more than I've spent getting alcoholic. He's been going to therapy twice a week for the past 30 years and has attended 6,000 AA meetings. Little of it was helpful. Perry didn't listen to his doctors and called detoxification "hell." He wanted vodka to'soothe my nerves and help me have fun.' Although he was sober for 18 months at the time of writing, his prescriptions have resulted in insomnia, respiratory difficulties, pancreatitis, and a perforated bowel.

RICHARD KAY: Lady Montagu of Beaulieu married the third baron of Beaulieu and rescued David Cassidy

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 19, 2022
RICHARD KAY: At the height of his fame, David Cassidy was the world's most sought after pop star. On his next trip, besieged by teenage girls at London's Dorchester Hotel on one visit, he opted for a 200-ton yacht moored on the Thames. However, fans were just as determined to find their idol, and they leapt into the river from which they had to be rescued by the singer's security team. Lady Montagu of Beaulieu, who died at the age of 90, offered a uniquely British alternative - sanctuary in her 13th-century pile, viewing this mayhem from her stately home.

Monica Zwolsman, 58, says she never wants to have sex again

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 8, 2022
I'm 58 years old and I don't want to have sex again. And I'm positive I'm not alone. I believe there are millions of older people out there, including women who are extremely bored with other people's wobbbling bits, and people who go through the motions purely for the sake of keeping a husband or long-term partner happy, or because it is expected of us in a new relationship. However, it's probably - a new thought - that our happiness should come first. For how many women, in their 50s and finally free of a woman's biological cycles and functions, are really still gripped by the lust that once led us so enthusiastically to bed?How many post-menopausal women are getting dressed up or trussed up - or having the most vanilla of sex, for that matter - not out of a sense of duty or to stop him seeking it elsewhere or even in exchange for companionship, but because they truly desire it?

EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: First spat between Rishi and the King?

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 7, 2022
EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Has Rishi Sunak's unilateral announcement of a Coronation bank holiday triggered the first spat between King Charles and the PM? Rishi disobeyed tradition by declaring the holiday in a proclamation, since only the monarch can make proclamations. They were only made at a meeting of the Privy Council with Charles, as Charles' proclamation of a holiday to commemorate his mother's death. Buckingham Palace will'remind' Downing Street of the rules.'

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Wedding of Lulu Guinness's daughter hit by family feud over stylist's death

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 17, 2022
RICHARD EDEN: There are few more stunning settings for a late summer wedding than Hilles, Gloucestershire's enchanting arts and crafts house built more than a century ago by society architect Detmar Blow - and strategically placed so that those strolling along its terraced gardens could be seen in no fewer than five counties. However, the dreamy views aren't the only thing to have lingered in the memory following Tara Guinness's nuptials (left and inset with her family) and Old Etonian investment manager James Kelway-Bamber. Following a luncheon, the dinner was held at Hilles courtesy of Tara's mother, designer Lulu Guinness (inset: center), the queen of the lips-print handbag, and there are just 50 people attending. Valentine Guinness (inset: left), Tara's father, and Tara's uncle Sebastian, who had come over from Spain, was also on hand.
