Although the author of BBC's violent Irish murder thriller Kinahan and Hutch crime families claims his show is 'not based' on true events from Dublin's criminal underworld, a new series airs

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 4, 2024
The drama follows the fictional Kinsella organised crime family as they face an international drug cartel and attacks closer to home in Dublin's drug trade, putting them at the top of the drug market. Peter McKenna, the show's producer, insists it is not based on the brutal Hutch-Kinahan gangland war, which killed 18 people on Dublin's streets and elsewhere from 2015 to 2018. "There's no one in this that resembles any of the Kinahans or any of the Hutches," he said. They are a made-up family in a made-up world.' However, there are several bloody scenes in the film that have chilling resemblance to horrific murders that occurred in Ireland's criminal underbelly.

They are expected to earn around £8 million a month from their illicit trade, given the sheer number of narcotics smuggled into the country. Gardai confiscated enough cocaine last year to provide every man, woman, and child in the state with a wrap worth £40.

The 2023 Oscar winners: see the complete list

www.mtv.com, March 12, 2023
For many years, there had been a certain belief about the Academy Awards, that the nimble ones would always honor the safest films and let the best pictures (read: the more prestigious, more emotionally resonant ones) go unrecognized save for their nominations. But no more! A slew of really good Oscars winners in the night's top category of Best Picture has emerged over the past half-decade or so. Moonlight, Parasite, and Nomadland? All great films! And so we arrived at 2023, where an incredibly inventive and dazzling film like Everything Everywhere at All Once is not just nominated, but also selected to win the largest Oscar of the night as a result of a lot of chatter and other major awards awards. That's pretty cool, dude. It's also cool that no one knows if it'll happen. Another snapshot, perhaps a thief underdog, could swoop in and nab Best Picture, which may have been something that EEAAO may not have even considered just a few years ago.

Here's why Lady Gaga Isn't Participating at the 2023 Oscars: Here's why

www.popsugar.co.uk, March 10, 2023
Lady Gaga fans: the pop star is, sadly, not performing her nominated single at the 2023 Oscars. "Hold My Hand," Gaga, who is up for best original song this year, is likely to appear on "Top Gun: Maverick" later this year. But on March 8, Oscars executive producer and showrunner Glenn Weiss announced that she would not be blessing the stage with her vocals — and there is a plausible explanation for why. "We have a great rapport with Lady Gaga and her camp. "She's right now shooting a movie," she said during a creative team press conference, per Variety. "We're honoring the film business and what it takes to make a film," says the producer after a back-and-forth. . . It didn't appear that she could give us a performance to the degree that we're used to seeing her and that she's used to. So, she is not going to be on the show" anymore.

Learn About The Best Original Songs From Rihanna to Lady Gaga

Cinematic excellence isn't limited to what is seen on film; it also blares out of the theater's speakers and into our ears and hearts. Some of the most memorable scenes in films are often lead by a song, and the musicians who compose the songs specifically for the film may be tasked with perfectly encapsulating the film's essence. The Academy Award for Best Original Song honors their efforts, and it has the ability to popularize the song outside of the confines of only the cinematic world. This year's nominees cover a variety of areas of the globe, and each of them has had a unique journey to this moment. A full fledged multinational brand, a legendary songwriter and producer shooting for her first-ever Oscar statue, a barrier-breaker whose evolutionary presence has been something to marvel at, a Golden Globe-winning composer who is a key fixture in India's Tollywood scene, and a musical trio suited for their task are among them.
