David Bendeth (born 17 June 1954) is a multi-platinum award-winning record producer.

Early life

David Bendeth was born on 17 June 1954 in Stoke Newington, Hackney, London, England. He attended Parkhill School in Ilford, London and in 1963, his family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Bendeth attended Georges Vanier Secondary School. Following graduation in 1973, Bendeth was to attend university, however he left for a summer vacation to London and stayed there. His first job in London was at Harlequin Records and he eventually joined the house band playing guitar at Speakeasy, a London club, along with Joe Jammer. In 1976, he returned to Canada. He was playing with the band Boule Noire at Riviera 76, a day music festival in Nice, and there he met Jeff Berlin, Lenny White, Joe Beck, and many other jazz musicians. Bendeth also played on Quebec band Toulouse's album with Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and singer Leroy Sibbles from the Heptones.

Career

Bendeth was born in 1977 and migrated to Toronto. Interglobal Music, which was released by Epic Records, put together The David Bendeth Band together and was signed by the band. Alan Caddy was their producer. On the album, Lenny White, Marcus Miller, and Billy Cobham appeared. This was supposed to be 100% instrumental, but Bendeth later decided to have some of his friends perform on one of the songs, "Feel the Real," and it became the UK's top dance single. Bendeth had a No. In 1979, 44 people were tagged on "Feel The Real" on the UK Singles Chart, and Adrenalin came out the same year.

Roger Ames later signed him to a company called Sidewalk Records, and The David Bendeth Band began touring with bands including The Pointer Sisters, Gary US Bonds, and The Police. Bendeth released three albums and 15 singles before deciding he'd had enough and took up a job with CBS Records, first in Toronto, Canada, then in New York, where he worked in the international division. Bendeth has released and mixed two albums during this period, one of them being Contact. Bendeth has left CBS Records. He performed on Chrysalis Records from 1987-1990. Bendeth and Climie wrote "Ecstasy," which became the B side of Jeff Beck's album Flash, while in England putting a band together with Simon Climie and Rob Fisher. Bendeth wrote "Two Wrongs (Don't Make a Right) for Joe Cocker's album Unchain My Heart in 1987, which became the top single on the US and international radio charts.

Bendeth was BMG Canada's Senior Producer and Head of the A&R group from 1987 to 1995. During this period, he signed the Cowboy Junkies, Crash Test Dummies, Sven Gali, Big House, Charlie Major, and Prairie Oyster. He served as the SR. VP of RCA Records in New York from 1995 to 2002. When he was there, he sang Vertical Horizon and SR 71, and produced Vertical Horizon's single "You're a God," Bruce Hornsby's album Big Swing Face, and SR71's single "Right Now" as a result. ELV1S: Elvis Presley's ELV1S: 30#1 Hits, and he mixed it with Elvis Presley's ELV1S: Elvis Presley. The album had been licensed in more than fifteen countries and had sold more than ten million copies worldwide by 2003.

Bendeth received the Socan Pop songwriting competition in Canada on November 21 for co-writing the Hedley song "Perfect." The album received the most airplay in the category rock/pop for the first year.
