Danny Rolling Life

Danny Harold Rolling (May 26, 1954 – October 25, 2006), also known as the Gainesville Ripper, was an American serial killer who murder five students in Gainesville, Florida, over four days in late August 1990.

Rolling later confessed to raping several of his victims, committing another triple murder in Shreveport, Louisiana, on November 4, 1989, and attempting to murder his father in May 1990.

Rolling admitted to killing eight people in total.

In 1994, Rolling was sentenced to death for five Gainesville murders.

In 2006, he was executed by lethal injection.

Early years

Danny Rolling was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. James Rolling, a Shreveport police officer, told Danny that he was barred from birth. Danny, Danny's mother Claudia, and his brother Kevin were also punished and beat by James for frivolous activities, such as breathing in a manner that offended him. Danny's mother went to the hospital after her husband allegedly threatened to make her cut herself with a razor blade. She made repeated attempts to divorce her husband but she was always returning shortly. Danny was pinned to the ground and handcuffed, then police took him away because he was embarrassed by him. Danny had a dog, but James would beat the dog so often that it died in Danny's arms.

Rolling was arrested several times in Georgia for robberies and was caught espionage on a woman getting dressed. He had a difficult time as an adult trying to integrate into society and hold down a steady job. Rolling began working as a waiter at Pancho's restaurant in Shreveport at one point.

A crime researcher at the University of Idaho has convicted murders resembling 'Gainesville Ripper'

Joseph Scott Morgan, a forensics specialist, is comparing the murders of University of Idaho students to the 'Gainesville Ripper', whose 1990 crimes inspired the 'Scream' film. On November 13, four University of Idaho students were discovered dead at a Moscow, Idaho, home. Joseph Scott Morgan, a Jacksonville State University professor of applied forensics, has compared five Gainesville-area students to the murder of five students in 1990. Danny Rolling, a man who was later sentenced to death, carried out the murders in Florida.
